Process
Studio Evloh will lead you through a comprehensive design process from start to finish. Our attention to detail and open communication ensure that we are addressing your needs and incorporating your feedback through every phase of the design. Step 1: DISCOVERY Phone Call
If you are interested in discussing your design project, click on the button above to set up a complimentary 15-minute phone call.
Step 2: Initial Design Consultation (IDC)
After the phone call we will schedule an on-site meeting to discuss your project. We will do a walk-through and talk over your project goals, challenges with your space, stylistic preferences, budget, timeline, and our process. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions, get feedback, and develop ideas. We will take photos of the existing space and take rough measurements as well. We allocate 90 minutes for the consultation and charge a non-refundable fee of $300 for Durham residents ($350+ for Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and surrounding locations), due at the completion of the consultation. This fee covers drive time, consultation time, and the time to write up a design contract.
Step 3: Design Contract
After the IDC we will email you a design contract, carefully detailing the scope of work and design fees for your project, and directions for next steps (typical turn around is 7-10 business days). Once signed, your project is put on our schedule. The time to complete the design for your project will vary based on the size, type, and complexity.
Step 4: Conceptual Design
We will develop preliminary schematic design options, including floor plans and/or mood/inspiration boards, depending on the scope of your project. We will schedule a meeting with you to review our design direction. Once the design direction is approved we are happy to provide you with drawings to assist you in getting estimates from contractors.
Step 5: Design Development & Documentation
We will develop and refine all design-related documents and specifications as needed; including but not limited to floor plans, interior elevations, custom cabinetry design, finish and fixture layout and selections, and will finalize builder’s drawings and/or specifications depending on the scope of work.
Step 6: Project CoordinatioN
For interior projects, highly detailed drawings and specifications will be provided to you and your contractor for their use and/or for acquiring a permit. The contractor will be responsible for sourcing all the materials for the project. Before construction commences we will do a walk-through with the contractor to review the construction scope. Throughout construction, we will make regular site visits to ensure the design is being executed as planned; and we will be available to the contractor to answer questions and provide clarifications when needed.
